Creating Accessible Word & PDF Documents
State Guidelines for Accessibility
The MN State IT started enforcing the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which became effective on September 1st, 2010. This means that state agencies are now responsible to ensure that all new electronic documents, web sites, software applications, videos and multimedia they buy or create, are accessible.
Don't be the Next Example
If you just want to ignore this and figure that it will never affect you, you're wrong! Accessibility is a very serious matter. Back in 2008-2009 Target.com reached a settlement with members of the California subclass for a total of $9,738,864.96 (just under 10 million!) to cover compensation and attorney fees because the shopping cart on their website was not accessible.
